Economic Evaluation and Investment Decision Methods

Division of Economics and Business Associate Teaching Professor John Stermole and Associate Teaching Professor Andy Pederson will teach, “Economic Evaluation and Investment Decision Methods,” a short course through Continuing Education at Mines, May 15-19. Four additional courses will be offered in June, July, September and November.

Stermole Economics or “Economic Evaluation and Investment Decision Methods” has been taught on the Mines campus since the early 1970’s when Frank Stermole, Division of Economics and Business Professor Emeritus, first developed the course. John Stermole started teaching in the early 1980’s and Andy Pederson started teaching in 2011. Throughout the years, this course has been taught more than 970 times to more than 22,500 people. It is designed for managers, engineers, geologists, landsmen, scientists, accountants, and others concerned with making the best economic decisions possible. The course is a mix of lecture, case studies and problem solving.

Here’s what previous course participants have to say:

"Overall content was excellent for individuals with no prior experience with economic evaluations and considerations."

"Material was presented clearly, lots of examples and opportunities for practice. Instructors were always willing to help and answer questions."
