Parent and Guest Commencement Information
Reminder: In order to participate in the Commencement Ceremony, all graduating students must complete their graduation checklist. Undergraduate students can access their checklist here. Graduate students can access their checklist from the Graduate Studies website.
Security Request
Due to recent events, we are requesting that all graduates and their guests refrain from bringing bags, backpacks, large purses, etc. to the Commencement Ceremony. Please leave these items at home or in your vehicle.
Tickets
Due to the restricted space on Kafadar Commons for Commencement, we are setting up an overflow area on Straton Commons with chairs and a screen. Those with tickets will be seated on Kafadar, and those without tickets can sit first-come-first-serve on Straton.
Degree candidates will receive a limited number of tickets to the ceremony due to space limitations. The number of tickets allotted to each student will be determined prior to the SALUTE event. SALUTE will be the first opportunity for students to obtain their tickets. After SALUTE, undergraduates may bring their completed check-out form to the Office of Student Life located in the Student Center, suite 218.
Masters and Doctoral Candidate tickets are distributed by the Graduate Office once the check-out process is complete.
Commencement tickets are issued to students for use by their family and friends. A waitlist will be created after the Salute event for students wishing to request additional tickets.
Travel
The Colorado School of Mines Alumni Association partners with several area hotels to guarantee a discounted hotel rate. For a complete list of partner hotels view the Alumni Association website.
Directions to Colorado School of Mines from Denver International Airport
Merge onto I-70 West. Take exit 265 toward Golden/Central City. Take the Washington Ave exit. Turn left onto Washinton Ave. Turn right onto 18th street and follow the signs for parking. Allow approximately one hour driving time from the airport to Colorado School of Mines. If traffic is light, the drive will take less time.
Directions to Colorado School of Mines from Interstates
From the north, take I-25 South to Exit 216B to merge onto I-76 West toward Grand Jct. This will then merge into I-70 West. Take Exit 265 toward Golden/Central City. Take the Washington Ave exit. Turn left onto Washinton Ave. Turn right onto 18th street and follow the signs for parking.
From the south, take I-25 North to Exit 209B for 6th Avenue toward US 6 W/Lakewood. Merge onto 6th Avenue Freeway. Turn right onto 19th street and follow the signs for parking.
Parking
Parking permits and meter receipts are not required on the day of Commencement. For the most current parking informaiton check online at http://inside.mines.edu/Parking.
