Tasks for transient calibration
1. Create
the transient MODFLOW simulation using text files or a GUI
- perhaps rename the files,
2.
Adjust the UCODE evaluation to use the transient data
starting with the files from the steady
state calibration
-
adjust
the name file appropriately,
- change the name(s) of(in) the batch file to execute the transient simulation
-
add the
stress periods and time stepping to the dis package,
-
consider
initial conditions (preferably make the first stress period steady state),
-
add storage
parameters to the lpf and sen packages,
-
consider
the recharge package and every head dependent flux package and add additional
stress periods with appropriate values
- add transient data to the observation packages
- execute MODFLOW to ensure the model is functioning properly
- change the command to run the transient model
- add storage parameters
- add transient observations
- modify the template file(s) appropriately
- modify the instruction file(s) to read the thransient simulated equivalents
download input files including modifications described in 1 and 2 above
3. Execute UCODE with sensitivity=no and optimize=no to be sure the extractions are correct
4. Execute UCODE with sensitivity=yes to confirm it is reasonable to proceed to regression given the relative sensitivity values
5. Execute UCODE with optimize=yes for parameter estimation
6.
Evaluate the progress of the regression, analyze the residuals, assess the parameter
estimates
