INITIAL
CONDITIONS
The transport equation represented by MT3D is formulated for transient conditions.
Few transport situations result in a steady state condition.
Can you think of a situation that would reach steady
state? one answer
Consequently, we must define the initial
conditions.
This is a matter of defining the concentration as a function
of space at the start of the simulated period.
If non-equilibrium sorption or dual-domain mass transfer
is simulated, then initial concentrations need to be defined for the sorbed
or immobile phase.
