RESEARCH INTERESTS IN THE AREA OF OXIDE FILM GROWTH AND SURFACE CORROSION

Oxide Film Growth and Surface Corrosion: A natural outgrowth of our work with metal oxide catalyst and supports is the study of metal oxide film growth and corrosion on metal surfaces. We are studying the chemical treatment of thin oxide films to improve their dielectric properties. This treatment has found application in the laser printer and photocopying industry by improving the electrophotographic behavior of photoconducting films. We are also studying the mechanism of corrosion on copper surfaces and how the chemical treatment with certain nitrogen based organics can inhibit this process.
