The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Region 3 recently announced in their February 2002 Newsletter that Dr. Atef Z. Elsherbeni, Professor of Electrical Engineering, was selected to receive the Joseph Biedenbach Outstanding Engineering Educator Award at the SoutheastCon 2002 Conference to be held in Columbia, SC. Dr. Elsherbeni receives this award:

For contributions to excellence in teaching for undergraduates in electromagnetics, and for his outstanding research on modeling and simulation of microwave circuits and antennas.
Joseph Biedenbach Outstanding Engineering Educator

Dr. Elsherbeni will receive this award at the 2002 SoutheastCon Conference to be held on April 5-7, 2002. SoutheastCon is the annual IEEE Region 3 Technical, Professional, Student Conference established to bring Electrical and Computer Engineering Professionals, faculty, and students together to share information through technical sessions, tutorials, and exhibits in the southeastern United States. It is the most influential outlet in Region 3 for promoting awareness of technical contributions made by our profession to the advancement of engineering science and society.
