Kate Bachman

Currently serving as Quantum Engineering NRT Coordinator and web admin for several Mines sites, as part of the Plasmonics Group, my research involved design, optimization, and simulation of plasmonic nanoscale devices. The illustration of the spiral structure on this page represents one such design, and is based on RF exponential spiral antennas. Most recently, I developed a genetic algorithm, written in Java to work in conjunction with Comsol Multiphysics for optimization of nanoscale device designs. Former research includes, for example, development of optimization algorithms and computer programs for radiation treatment planning, mutual information-based image registration, and development of database and other software applications.
