Kelly Lundstrom
Bio My name is
Kelly Lundstrom and I am a first year master's student
in Applied Statistics. I received my undergraduate
degree in Mathematics from Shippensburg University in
Shippensburg, PA. For the past two years, I taught
math at Alameda High School in Lakewood, CO. This year
I am helping at Metz Elementary School to bring
exciting science and math experiments into the
classroom and for an after school science club. In my
free time, you will find me playing volleyball, trying
new recipes, and spending time with my husband of two
years.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with
Secondary Education Certification, Shippensburg
University, Shippensburg, PA (May 2009)
Research
I am
interested in research related to assessment in
education, specifically with the Bechtel K-5
Educational Excellence Initiative, and I am currently
working with Dr. Moskal on assessing the data from
this program.
Funding
My funding is from the Bechtel K-5
Educational Excellence Initative. The purpose of the
Bechtel program is to encourage younger students
to become passionate about science and mathematics
with the hope of inspiring these students to
pursue engineering as a
career. My role at Metz Elementary is to help develop
and teach lesson plans for mathematics and science. In
addition, I co-run a science club with a fellow
graduate student, where students complete engineering
design projects and engage in hands-on experiments.
The Bechtel program is rewarding for not only the
students, but myself as well.
