Following the past success of MDS 2006, MDS 2005 and MDS 2004, MDS 2007 will be held in Newport Beach, California on November 26, 2007 in conjunction with the Middleware 2007 conference. MDS 2007 will serve as a forum for doctoral students to present their work and obtain guidance from mentors, as well as to provide contact with other students at a similar stage in their careers. The goal of the symposium is to expose students to helpful criticism before their thesis defense, and to foster discussions related to future career directions. Mentors will provide constructive criticism on the current work and give advice for possible future direction and focus. The mentors will be a small group of experienced researchers from academia and industry.

Participation in the symposium will be based on paper submissions of up to 6 pages in ACM format, describing novel doctoral research aligned with the themes of the Middleware conference. Paper submissions are due on August 3, 2007. All submissions will be fully peer-reviewed by an international program committee, in order to provide useful feedback to the authors and select the highest quality papers for presentation at the symposium. The accepted papers will be published in the Middleware 2006 conference companion CD, together with the papers from the Middleware 2006 workshops, and will also appear online in the ACM Digital Library. Further information can be found in the call for papers and submission instructions.
