This FIPSE-sponsored project is utilizing expert system and neural network technology to emulate the interview/evaluation project presently conducted by human experts. My main roles in the project are to use interview data as they are collected to develop and train the required neural nets, and to work with instructional designers to code the software in HTML for use by students. If successful, this project has the potential for providing an inexpensive and rapid measure of our students’ intellectual development while at CSM. The project is attracting national interest and faculty at several engineering schools have indicated an interest in eventually piloting the software with their students.
