Dr. Camp is a member of the Computing Research Association's Committee on the Status of Women in Computing Research (CRA-W) where she co-chairs
CRA-W's Distributed Mentor Program. She also serves on CRA-W's Steering Committee.

Dr. Camp served as the co-chair of ACM's Committee on Women in Computing from 1998-2002, and continues to participate today as a Council Member.
The mission of ACM-W is to engage in activities and projects that aim to improve the working and learning environments for women in computing.

Dr. Camp has attended every Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (1994, 1997, 2000, 2002, and 2004), and has the posters of each on a wall in her building to prove it. Because of her respect for this conference, she has helped organize the Celebrations in various capacities. For example, she served as the Program Chair of GHC 2009 and the General Chair of GHC 2010.

Dr. Camp was honored to be the keynote speaker at the 2006 Australian Women in IT Conference (AusWIT), the 2009 Ohio Celebration of Women in Computing (OCWIC), and the 2009 STARS Celebration.

One of Dr. Camp's often cited papers on the shrinking pipeline problem was published in CACM (October 1997). The paper is available here.

In Dr. Camp's CACM paper, the community was asked to respond to an interactive survey. Results from this survey are available here.
