The Trefny Innovative Instruction Center is holding its first Mines Engineering Learning Mini-Conference, which will provide faculty the opportunity to:

  • share instructional innovations being used on campus
  • share educational studies being conducted on campus
  • share problems of practice in an open forum to explore opportunities and learn from others tackling the same issues
  • learn from others about ways to engineer learning opportunities for Mines’ students

Delivering keynote addresses are Dr. Sam Spiegel, director of the center, and Dr. Mary Besterfield-Sacre, associate dean for academic affairs, professor of inudustrial engineering and director of the Engineering Education Research Center at University of Pittsburgh.

The conference has issued a call for presentations. Session formats include innovative practic sessions, research to practice sessions, round table discussions, panel sessions and poster sessions. For more information, go to
