About

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at Colorado School of Mines (Mines) (my third year at Mines, starting from Aug. 2015). Before coming to Mines, I received a Ph.D. degree in Control Science and Engineering from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in 2014, under the supervision of Professor Gang (Gary) Feng. I received the B.Eng. degree in Automation from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2009.

I'm on the job market now.

Research

My research is focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in robotics, with the objective of integrating the strengths of humans and autonomous robots cooperate together in time-critical and safety-critical applications, e.g. autonomous driving. I use computer vision and machine learning methods in my projects, including visual SLAM, long-term place recognition, augmented reality (AR), real-time 3D human activity recognition using RGB-D sensors, decision making using reinforcement learning, etc.

I have hands-on experience in C/C++, Matlab, OpenCV, Robot Operating System (ROS), Linux, SVN/Git, HTML/CSS/JavaScript

Field Work

I always enjoy filed work with our robots from system evaluation, to data collection for various applictions. Onsite testing and trouble shooting lead my way to a better understanding of real-world robotic systems.
