I'm Léo Chely, computer science student and soccer player.
Passionate and motivated, I'm currently studying in order to get my Computer Science degree from Colorado School of Mines. I also have a strong sport background as I played at the highest youth soccer level in France and in the USA.
I am always looking for new technologies to discover and new skills to master, here are some of the ones I have already started to learn.
I know you are on this page because you want to learn more about my exciting life, know where I have been and what I have experienced.
So here you are.
May 2019 - Present
I am working this summer at Webroot as a backend software engineer intern.
January 2019 - Present
May - August 2017
For my second internship in the ministry of Culture, I helped the IT service head in his job:
I was in charge of managing the hardware inventory so I developed a database system to make our job easier
and allow a more convenient tracking for future employees.
Alongside this task, I provided IT support to the other employees. I had to solve software issues (virus attacks, trouble with software, preparing computers and accounts for new employees,..) as well as hardware issues (old computers needing new parts, network to set up in new offices, printers to fix...).
I also was in charge of a visiting high school student for a week.
June - August 2016
Similar to my second internship described above. This year we had more visits to conduct in the UDAPs (Department Unit of Architeture and Cultural Heritage) in order to fix issues or provide them new computers or software.
During summer breaks
Math and Physics tutoring for French high school or university students in my hometown Montpellier. Preparation for baccalaureate exam, taking a lead or catching up before university starts, I helped students reach their academic goals in math and physics (the two classes I used to ace when I was in high school and then prep school).
August 2016 - May 2020
I follow the Robotics and Intelligent Systems of the CS degree because I am fascinated with artificial
intelligence and machine learning so I wanted to get more knowledge on these subjects. I am also taking classes
on cryptography and other interesting and useful topics such as game design or web development thanks to the freedom
allowed by this program.
Current GPA: 3.1
September 2015 - June 2016
During this year in the elitist French preparatory school, I followed the math/physics and engineering sciences track with the computer science option. I retain from this experience the ablity to handle huge charges of work (34 hours of classes/week + oral interrogations and weekend 4 hours exams) as well as an improved time management skill. As a matter of fact, I kept playing high level soccer alongside this heavy school schedule so I needed to become more effective and organized to keep up with both academic and athletic schedules.
I earned my European high school diploma with the highest mention ("Très Bien" if any French enthusiast here wanted to know). I obtained the highest possible grade in math and physics and I produced a group research work about planes and glass. We presented our approach and our results here!
You can find most of them on my GitHub Page but here are some amazing pictures to tease you.
Website developped as a showcase for a debuting singer and graphist. His work is regularly updated as he is very productive so check it out if you like rap music!
Game made in duo following Agile principles and test-driven development with JUnit tests. The game is fully playable against CPU opponents.
My first game, made in C++ using the SFML library for the GUI. The game generates a random grid and the goal is to put the numbers back in order.
Web Development group project. Using Php and MySQL, we made a website that can be used to reference all Mines courses. The users can search by teacher, department or course name. They also have the possibility to write reviews.
My Soccer Youtube Channel. I've uploaded full games and highlights for the last 5 years.
With a multidisciplinary team (Physics, CS and Mechanical majors), we created a Guitar Hero-like game. I was in charge of coding the actual game, handling the multi-threading in order to both read the inputs and play the music. I also contributed to design the controller that the team built specifically for this game. This project was featured at the Colorado School of Mines Computing and Innovation Fair Spring 2018.
Thanks to my IT experience, I acquired some hardware knowledge and I built or repaired computers on my own. You can check them out on the dedicated page.
Created with Game Maker Studio 2 as a semester long project for a game dev class, Escape Artist is a 2D escape game where you are trapped in your cursed canvas. The game is fully playable and has some cool features. You can download it and play it, it even supports controllers!
I am always eager to solve new challenges! If you have a project, I can help you realize it.
You are looking to add another developer to your team? You have an idea for a new piece of software and you want someone to develop it? I can fit in a team as well as I can conduct a small project by myself so I can adapt to your needs.
Do you want a website as cool looking and as functional as this one? I can make it!
If you are looking for a tutor in Math/Physics/Computer Science for your children, I can provide courses in either French or English. I have already helped students up to university level to get better in these classes.
