Flexible Optoelectronics
In this completed project we used
pulsed PECVD to deposit thin films and multi-layers onto flexible substrates for applications in areas such as
solar cells and displays. One project was directed at developing low emissivity multi-layer films for integration
into flexible electrochromics for a DOE SBIR project in collaboration with ITN Energy Systems. In addition through
a project supported by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) through their
Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Program, we developed low cost solutions to produce transparent electrical
conductors, optical coatings and moisture barriers on polymer substrates. Film performance is characterized before
and after mechanical testing using a custom bending apparatus. The partnership with ITN Energy Systems provides
a pathway for commercialization of successful processes.
